The Two Chapters of Hannibal Season 3
Divided into “two chapters”, the first half of season three will see Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) on the run, with Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) in pursuit, while the second portion will consist of elements from Thomas Harris’s first Lecter novel, Red Dragon.
”It’ll be our version of Red Dragon,” says writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot. “We know we’re going to lock Hannibal up.”
”I know that I’m instrumental in catching Hannibal,” adds Raul Esparza, who plays Chilton. “I know that we’re heading into Red Dragon territory - he’s going to become my prisoner.”
Part of entering Red Dragon territory will be exploring the “point of view” of that book’s chief antagonist, one Francis Dolarhyde - previously brought to life by Tom Noonan in 1986 film Manhunter and Ralph Fiennes in 2002’s Red Dragon.
”I’m super-excited about Dolarhyde,” says Lightfoot. “He’s the most interesting of the killers in the Harris books for me because he wants to stop.”
”What we get that the movies never had is time to give him a point of view and to live with him, as we live with Will - we will spend time in Dolarhyde’s POV and tell his story.” [x]
From what I’ve gathered, Peter Capaldi is a huge fan of Doctor Who that pretended to be a huge Moffat stan until he’d signed an airtight contract, at which point he revealed he hates the direction Moffat was taking the show he loves, plans to systematically undo it to the best of his ability, has been openly mocking and refusing the participate in parts of the script he doesn’t think are true to the character, and insisting that they “won’t chase him off this show,” which is basically saying “this town ain’t big enough for the both of us.”
I think the new season of Doctor Who is going to be glorious.
